About
Welcome to Blue Moon, your 3 in 1 function solution.
Blue Moon was formed in 2000 with the intention of promoting South African music and bringing the very best local and international music to the Lowveld. Over the years Blue Moon has had the privilege of working with the very best of local and international acts and its venue has earned the honour of being Nelspruit’s most sought after concert location.
With time, the company has diversified into many events both at its Nelspruit venue and elsewhere in the country.
As function co-ordinators: The team at Blue Moon has extensive experience in “off site” functions and festivals. Just to mention some of our proudest moments:
- The annual Up The Creek Music Festival in Swellendam: Blue Moon is 50% owners in this festival on the banks of the Breede River in the Cape and responsible, to mention a few, band selection, venue building and housekeeping.
- Wessa concert at the Riverside Mall (2012): Blue Moon was responsible for the band logistics.
- Mbombela Stadium VIP Lounge Bar (2011): Blue Moon ran the bar on 3 occasions in the VIP areas.
- Botanical Garden Concert Series (2011, 2012, 2013): Blue Moon hosted a series of concerts in the Lowveld National Botanical Garden.
As a music venue: Blue Moon is not genre specific. Highlights (local and international) include Seether, Dana Winner, Freshly Ground, Prime Circle, The Parlotones, Malaika, Mafikizolo and Steve Hofmeyr.
As a functions venue: Blue Moon is unique and versatile, suitable for hosting corporate end-of-year functions, launches, award dinners, weddings, birthday parties and matric farewells. Blue Moon’s multiple stages, decks, bars, kitchen, amphitheatre, chalets, bunkhouse, trees and creative lighting can be adapted to suit just about every need. The small team of three owner-operators is always keen to accommodate exciting and challenging ideas. The venue is suitable for day as well as night functions with a strong indoor-outdoor relationship. Much attention was given to create a space which is comfortable for small groups yet spacious enough for large groups. Blue Moon is an all-weather, round the year venue – breezy and cool during the hot summer months, whilst on a cool winter night the six enormous sliding doors can be closed.
Apart from the main stage, there are two additional outdoor stages often used for acts in-between main stage performances, promotions and to cater for smaller groups. In addition to the main bar, a second covered bar, located at the top perimeter of the amphitheatre, is operational during big concerts.
